Dr Tapas Sen from the School of Physical Sciences & Computing has just been awarded an international research grant entitled “Multifunctional Nanomaterials in Cancer Therapy”. This is a multinational project which is jointly funded by UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI: https://www.ukieri.org/) and the University Grant Commission (UGC: https://www.ugc.ac.in/), India for the period of 3 years ( 2017 – 2020) with a total budget of £215477. In this project, we have two academic organisations, one industrial partner from UK and one medical professional from VP chest Institute, India. Dr. Sen from the Nano-biomaterials research group (www.senlabs.org) at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), UK is coordinating this project with Prof Indrajit Roy from Delhi University, India (https://www.du.ac.in/), Mr Ian Crosley, Managing Director from Hosokawa Micron Ltd, UK (https://hosokawa.co.uk/), and Prof Arunabha Ray from VP Chest Institute (https://www.vpci.org.in/), India.
This is the second project which is coordinated by UCLan in collaboration with industrial partner from UK following the success of the first collaborative project with industries on Nanowater Technology (https://nanowateratuclan.org/) funded by UKIERI and Department of Science and Technology (DST: https://www.dst.gov.in/), India. The first project proven to be a great success with high quality peer review journal publication with special focus issue (https://www.futuremedicine.com/toc/nnm/11/21 & http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/22147853/4/1) and a successful international symposium at UCLan in March 2016 (https://nanosymposiumatuclan.net/).
