Overview

Society of Functional Nanomaterials has been formed due to a common interest in the scientific community involving academic, industrial and private research organisation. This is a pathway to bring the gap between academic research with the real life applications with industrial importance.  In addition, the Society is a platform for stimulating education, research and collaboration.

Who we are?

An International Symposium on Functional Nanomaterials in Industrial Applications: Academic-Industry Meet held in 2016, culminated in an open discussion about the challenges facing collaborators from industry and academia. Expressing a strong desire to overcome those challenges to generate positive action with commercial conclusions a common interest group made up of academic and industry thought leaders in functional nanomaterials evolved into the steering group of the Society for Functional Nanomaterials and the establishment of an international Society for Functional Nanomaterials.

What we want to do?

We want to build on the hunger for commercial pace and material innovation within the nanoscience community and open up the pathways to realising the future opportunities. The Society is a purposeful network of individuals, corporate, government and academic partners sharing a single platform with the ambition to foster worthwhile and mutually beneficial collaborations and be a central hub for the advancement of functional nanomaterials.

Why we are doing it?

By creating a theatre for open discussion, enlightened dialogue and partnership potential between both academia and industry we will have generated a massive pool of resources, knowledge, funding opportunities and willing collaborators. This self-stimulating and visionary community has the potential to prioritise future developments in nanomaterials, script focused educational opportunities, channel investment and funding to where it is most appropriate and widen contacts with the wider nanoscience community.
